Nathan Smith

Operations Director

I began working for Parsons Joinery in 2013. I manage the day-to-day running of the business, overseeing workshop production as well as our installation and customer service teams. I love being able to see a project through, from giving the initial quotation to installation. I spend lots of time visiting customers’ properties and managing their installations, but I also love being in the office – there’s a great team atmosphere, and someone is always making a cup of tea.

If I’m not in the office at the weekend, you’ll usually find me watching football on a Saturday afternoon.

Matthew Smith

Order Processor

If you place an order with us, I will take care of it for you. I’ve been here since 2013 and my job is to manage projects from beginning to end, getting regular updates from the workshop to keep customers informed. I also carry out quality checks to maintain our high standards. I enjoy being organised, so I like to keep a project on track and make sure everyone is happy.

My job certainly keeps me busy but I do find time to play football on Sundays. I also enjoy listening to debates or lectures and recent topics have included Russia, politics and Bryan Cranston’s acting career – they’re all good conversation starters with my customers!

Trevor Flint

Trevor Flint

Workshop Manager

I’ve worked at Parsons Joinery for more than 20 years, looking after the day-to-day running of the workshop and ensuring staff are working in a safe environment. I also ensure we provide a top-notch service to our customers, making sure we deliver an organised service and complete all orders on time. This means keeping the workshop in excellent order – I pride myself on achieving a laidback but efficient atmosphere where we all enjoy our work.

I got into this industry through an apprenticeship, and I have City & Guilds qualifications in carpentry and joinery. On top of this, I have many years of industry experience – understanding what my customers want is essential and I make sure our work meets their needs in full.

When I’m not in the workshop, I enjoy eating out, golf, walking the dog, and drinking good gin (preferably in the sunshine!)

Bench Joiner

I’ve worked for Parsons Joinery for over 20 years as a bench joiner – every project is bespoke and it keeps things interesting. I take care of joinery, spraying, machining, glazing and setting out, and I help run the workshop when needed. Attention to detail is key, and I make sure every aspect of the joinery I make is the way I’d want it to be if it was going into my home.

I’ve always taken an interest in this line of work – my dad is a carpenter and builder. I obtained my own NVQ qualifications, earning a Level 3 qualification in carpentry and joinery, as well as achieving a City & Guilds gold medal for excellence.

Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, playing a game of golf or clay pigeon shooting. I spend as much time as I can with my wife and son.

Bench Joiner and Machinist

I’ve worked for Parsons Joinery since 2016, producing and assembling custom, bespoke joinery for our customers. Every piece of joinery I create needs to be of the highest quality, and the process involves setting out, machining, assembly, and sometimes glazing too. We have a great team here, and the strength of communication between us ensures we do an excellent job for our customers.

I love working with timber and am happy to take on any challenge! I got into this industry through an apprenticeship, and I hold NVQ Level 3 qualifications in wood occupations, carpentry and joinery. I also have a Level 3 diploma in heritage skills.

Outside of work, I enjoy family time with the kids.

Machinist/Glazer

I look after the glazing process, cleaning and preparing glass, cutting beads and fitting glazing accurately. I’ve always liked working with wood, and I have great team of colleagues here at Parsons Joinery, which makes the job even more enjoyable.

I started out in this industry straight after school, when I worked in a sawmill. I progressed from there, working in various roles along the way. I also hold a Level 2 furniture making qualification, which I obtained in New Zealand.

Outside of work, I enjoy watching rugby, cycling and wood carving.

It’s my job to look after the workshop, keeping it neat and tidy to ensure working conditions are safe. I also do some of the deliveries, helping our customers and assisting the team – plus I make a great cup of tea.

I came to work at Parsons Joinery after obtaining my Level 2 design technology and IT qualifications. It’s great to have a job that’s local to me in Ringmer, East Sussex.

Outside of work, I enjoy football and Formula 1, going to the cinema, gaming, and spending time with friends and family.
