Our clients purchased this substantial property in Hove which was located within a highly sought after, quiet, residential area within the city. Thought to have been originally built in the 1930’s, it had been left empty and uninhabited for more than two years. Badly neglected since it’s last refurbishment in the seventies, there was much rot and water damage and all of the existing timber and upvc windows and doors required urgent replacement, upgrading them with timber double glazed alternatives with security ironmongery. Originally intended for separating into two plots, they rescued the house, tennis court, swimming pool and landscaped gardens and have transformed them into a safe and spacious family home close to the centre of town.
Once the building contractor had completely gutted the property, we were invited to tender for replacement joinery which included wooden windows, both traditional sliding sash style on the front elevation and casement style windows on the rear elevation, several sets of timber bi-folding doors, hardwood roof lanterns, French doors and a redesigned front door and frame. The original pool house was to become a large kitchen and family room, opening out onto the pool area with a large set of bi-folding doors and two roof lanterns above to replace the ugly, aluminium structure in the original building.
