Two sets of bi-folding doors were manufactured to open outwards onto a beautiful secluded, walled rear garden in a property in Lewes. Keith Brand, building contractor, had been commissioned to remove an internal wall between the dining room and kitchen, providing the client with a large, open plan family space to incorporate the new kitchen, island unit and large family dining area.
The bi-folding doors can either be used as a single opening door in each set or can be fully folded back flat against the wall to create an open aspect to the garden in the summer months. The doors were designed to be taller than conventional doors so a glazing bar was incorporated within the design to give the appearance of a fanlight above. As the doors were quite tall, we had to source longer flush bolts on the top that were accessible from floor level. The doors were manufactured in utile hardwood and painted to a gloss finish.
