Parsons Joinery were commissioned to replace all of the box sash windows in this beautiful Victorian, five storey property located in the popular Maida Vale area of London, close to Regent’s Canal. Formerly split into flats, this property was being converted back into a large and luxurious family home with private garden in this most desirable location in central London.

As part of this major refurbishment, it was decided that the existing box sash windows, many of which were rotten and broken, were deemed beyond repair and, when being replaced, would be upgraded to incorporate double glazed units to improve both thermal and acoustic performance. To further improve acoustic performance on the front elevation, acoustic glass was added to the glass specification. However, whilst enjoying the benefits of modern technology, it was important to preserve the traditional appearance of the replacements. Therefore, the windows were manufactured in hardwood to operate on sash cord and weights with horn detail to match the Victorian originals and were installed primed for hand finish by decorators in situ.

The project took five weeks to install.
