When our clients’ relocated to their beautiful new home close to the South Downs, they wanted to improve the appearance of a rather dated lean-to addition to the back of the house which had a sloping corrugated plastic roof which was leaking badly. The overall structure was sound but the appearance of the extension was dingy and dated.

The main part of the house whilst comfortable and warm and packed with period features tends to be quite dark in the daytime and would benefit from a light and airy room for rest and relaxation and to enjoy the landscaped private garden to the rear of the house.

Working closely with their chosen builder who would be forming the flat roof and preparing the aperture for the roof lantern to sit upon, we were commissioned to manufacture an 1800mm x 4300mm roof lantern, manufactured in idigbo with brown aluminium capping to the exterior, easy clean, thermal reflective double glazed units, tulip finials and fleur de lys crest along the ridge.

Our clients are delighted with the finished result. The newly painted joinery to the interior has created a lovely spacious feel to the room and the lantern has transformed the lean-to into a beautiful orangery with the added benefit of thermal control glazing to avoid overheating in the summer sunshine.

The newly renovated garden room was considered to be so transformed that it featured in a national glossy magazine that year – 25 Beautiful Homes…..
